1. Where did you meet?
At Ventura College, in a speech class we were both taking. Meant to be! π
2. What was the first thought that went through your head when you met?
Ummm well I’m sure I have all that written down in my journal, but I don’t want to go get that. I remember him turning around and asking me to be his partner for this introduction speech that we were having to do. I never knew that would be “partner for life!” As we conversed over the phone about this speech and then he asked me out on a date… I thought…. “this could be the one”… even though I had never wanted to be married. But I was letting go and letting God take control of my life at the time! He was working on me. He had been working on me all through the Summer prior… just preparing me for Brian! I’m sure of it.
3. Do you remember what was he wearing?
I remember thinking he looked very “cool” and thinking he was one of those… “too cool to talk to me” kind of people! LOL! He wore chords and a nice polo shirt (probably his normal “earth tone” colors!) He had a cool black jansport backpack. π
4. Where was the first time you kissed this person?
We were watching “singing in the rain” at his house and I kissed his cheek. Then he walked me out to go home and he leaned down (yes… I’m a shortly!) and he kissed me. I remember getting in my car so fast, and taking off. He said he was sooo worried that he did something to upset me…. I was just new to the whole dating thing. He was the FIRST GUY I ever dated! I do think its kind of cool…..to wait and kiss on your wedding day! Like Peter and Tracy did. That is just so awesome. I think its up to every individual, but think that is a neat standard to hold to! π
On the phone one night we were talking about our speech and then got on to other things. I remember him telling me he had never met anyone like me… that wanted to follow what God wanted. He said he loved that about me. He asked me what movie I wanted to see and I think we got to talking about Ever After and so he asked me to go see that after class one day. I remember after that conversation coming out of my room and telling Mom that I had a date, and I thought she was gonna have a heart- attack! My first date ever and I was the one in the family that NEVER wanted to get married or have kids! LOL!
6. Where did you go for your first date?
We went to Denny’s. Then a parking lot, he wanted to teach me to drive his stick shift car!, and then to see the Movie, EVER AFTER. I rember sharing with him about a “bet” I made with a family friend. That I would not be married by the age of 20. We bet $200. He couldn’t believe I had never dated before. He was surprised that he was the first. He brought me home after our date and walked me to the door. That was a crazy day at my house…. my sister was babysitting three kids, The freezer man was there, it was just loud and chaotic. Brian came in and sat for a while. Peter came in not knowing Brian was sitting right there… and said “So how was the date!!” If you know Peter… he can be loud at times. It was pretty funny. I remember saying goodbye at the door and my mom pushing me out and told me to go give him a little hug…. I guess I was just so new at dating… didn’t really know what to do or what to say…
Our first date was Sept. 17, 1998. We said our first “I love you’s” in Oct/ Nov (I think). We got engaged in April of 1999 (6 months after the first date).
8. Has this person ever proposed to you? & How?
Yes he sure did! On April 2, 1999. I had a feeling it was coming! Prior to this, Brian had asked my Dad and Mom about it. They gave him their blessing. We got all dressed up to go to the Pier Pont Inn. I just had a GUT feeling it was going to happen! After dinner he walked holding my hand to the car, and he seemed nervous or something. He got down on one knee and asked me…. and gave me the ring. It was very special!
9. Do you and this person have kids together?
We got married Sept. 18th, 1999 (ONE YEAR and one day after our first date)
I’m sure we speed at times in the car.
11. When was the first time you realized that you liked this person?
I knew right away……… when we were eating at Denny’s on the first date I remember thinking “this guy could be my husband”.
Yes
14. Do you see your partner in your future?
For the rest of my life!
15. WhatΚΌs the most expensive thing this person has given you?
Does it matter?? I guess my ring…
16. What is one thing he/she does that gets on your nerves?
Forgetting things…
Not sure really……
18. Where do you see each other in 15 years from now?
God knows….. π Hopefully someday we’ll have our own home with some land, & more kids. But whatever God wants is what we want !!
