We took Adam back to the ENT today. A month after we first saw him. The fluid is the same. Still all there, even after the antibiotics. So he put him on another round (a different kind this time). We go back in another month. If its not cleared then, we do another round of medicine. At the 3rd month if the fluid isn’t cleared up we will be doing tubes for him.

I asked about the fluid and how its not always infected necessarily. With children that have chronic fluid in the ears, there is a chance that the ears are in fact infected. After three months of treatment it will often times clear up the problem in many children, Dr. Bayer says. We hope that is the case with Adam.

So we hope by October Adam will hear fine and be back to normal! If not, he’ll be getting tubes just like Mommy & her sisters had to have & his Aunt Sarah.

We are constantly hearing him say “what did you say”? or he’ll look at me like I’m from space… just trying to figure out what I just asked him to do. The Dr. says… his hearing is all muffled. Poor guy! To never have it clear! 🙁 Try walking around all day with your fingers plugging your ears…. that’s how it is for Adam, with never a break. 🙁
