New Kraft Family Chore plan for 2010

Instead of a chore chart this year we are trying something a little new. Maybe it will give the boys more motivation and responsibility.

As we discussed with them, some things they have to do just because they are part of this family and we all have to pull our own weight and help out! Everyone works and helps in different ways and we don’t have to be PAID. The boys have to learn to just pitch in and not have to be paid for everything. We also feel though that it’s important for them to learn about earning money, giving and saving.

We also went over a few little “reminders”!

1. One toy thing out at a time

2. Do stuff without complaining

3. Honor God in our attitude

4. Think to do chores without Mommy and Daddy asking

So this year we are gonna try a more fun approach. Each day the boys will have a little check list of chores they need to get done that day. At the top of the list will be their Daily duties that they have to do just because. Then at the bottom will be a list of a few Daily chores that they will do to get paid. Each day it might be something different, but they will need to get it done and turn in the sheet to us at the end of the day, with their chores checked off.

At the end of the week we will look through their lists and see if they completed their list. If they did not they won’t get paid their full amount. If they completed all their chores that week (not forgetting their daily duties), then they will get paid and also get to pick a small something from Mommy’s treasure box. In the box I will have stocked up items of little things they enjoy. Each week there might be a few new things as well. Special candy, baseball cards, marbles, $1 happy meal cards, coupon for a soda (we don’t drink much so it’s kind of a treat for them), etc….. So kind of an incentive to work hard that week and makes it kind of fun and something for them to look forward to!

At the end of the week they will also have the opportunity to choose an EXTRA chore , which will be worth extra money. So if they are trying to save up for something, this will be like extra credit and will be something they can do to earn a little more money. These will be bigger things like (cleaning the chicken coop, helping weed around the flowers etc..)
