I couldn’t help but write about this… it’s too funny not to. This is one of those times where you kind of have to be there, but anyway….

Spring and the boys and I were at Disneyland on Sunday and were leaving Big Thunder Mountain Railroad going from Adventureland to Fantasyland through the back pathway. Right before we got to Fantasyland, we were stopped on the path so that a band could pass across the pathway to the back area of the park. There were about forty people stopped there waiting for the band to cross when we arrived. The band, consisting of high school students carrying an assortment musical instruments, was just leaving from a performance inside the park at Disneyland.

While we were waiting for them to pass, a small group of guys next to us started clapping for the band which was kind of strange cause nobody knew who they were. A few more people joined in the clapping and at that point, it was pretty funny. As the waiting crowd kept growing, more people joined in and started clapping. Eventually, people started cheering very, very loudly. As the instruments the kids were carrying got bigger, so did the cheers. These were not just regular cheers, but cheers like you would hear from the fans at the Super Bowl as the teams enter the stadium. It was really getting loud!

The best part came when the guy with the tuba passed by and the crowd (now over 100 people) started chanting, “TUBA, TUBA, TUBA!” amidst the cheering. The kids from the band were having fun as well. Some of the kids in the band started holding their instruments over the head and waved to the crowd. The last kid in a wheel chair saluted us as he passed by and that just put the crowd over the top. I felt like I had just seen the most famous band in America pass by even though I’m sure, none of us knew who they were.

Maybe it was just me, but I couldn’t stop laughing for a few minutes… all in a day at the happiest place on earth.
