Our family names

I looked up our names and got the meanings behind them, as well as how they ranked popularity wise.  It was a fun interesting search so I thought it would be neat to share on our family blog.  Its so hard picking names for your kids, but once they are named they fit so well.  I find that so interesting! I love that GOD KNEW our NAME before we were ever born, or conceived!  Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,and before you were born I consecrated you;I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

I know my Mom named me after my sister April who passed away at 17 months.  I wasn’t born in the Spring (even though everyone seems to think I was because that is my name) I was actually born in August. April is a SPRING month so Pop and Mom named me Spring.  Louise is also a family name (Mom, April, Mama….)
We didn’t have a real reason for naming Gregory other than we really liked the name and its neat that Brian’s middle name is also Gregory.  I also had a cousin named Gregory (Greg they called him).  He passed away July 22 (many years before Gregory was born).  Michael just flowed well with Gregory we thought.  A good strong boys name!  The means fit Gregory very well too!
Again with Adam we just liked the name and James flowed well with Adam.  I think its kinda neat that Adam’s FAVORITE color has ALWAYS been RED.  Thought that was interesting.

I remember going round and round with Luke’s name and whether to do Samuel first or as a middle name.  Brian finally decided Luke would go first.  We liked the name Luke.  I also had a brother that passed away at 13 months and his name was Luke.  Samuel I really wanted for Luke because the meaning meant soo much to me.  We really did ASK GOD for Luke.
And we haven’t FOR SURE DECIDED upon Munchkin #4’s name, but we are leaning toward Gideon Josiah. We are still tossing around a couple other ideas, but we love the meaning of these names and the flow with our family as well. And the fact that its not real popular.  Josiah has been on my BOY list since before Gregory was born, but I just don’t want “joe” to become a name for him.  I’m not big on nick-names for my kids.  I think I first ran across Gideon in my daily Bible reading (I’m reading through the Bible this year) and it popped out at me (popped out at my Mom too, since we are doing the same Bible plan).
