We started a new Christmas Time tradition tonight.

Brian mentioned early in the month that we should surprise the  boys after they were all tucked in bed for the night with going out to look at Christmas lights around town.  He suggested we have snacks and hot chocolate all ready for the trip.  

On Pinterest (a very fun site that I get a lot of ideas on), they had a template for some GOLDEN mini van express tickets.  It was suggested to place the tickets in the kids bed or on their pillow so when they go to bed they are surprised with a golden ticket.  So tonight we did that.  I made up hot chocolate, candy canes.  Got it all set in the van while Brian finished up talking with them before bed.  When they first saw the tickets they weren’t sure what it was for.  After I explained it to them they jumped in the van (in their pjs) after presenting their tickets to me.  Still not knowing what we were doing exactly I passed out the treats.  Luke was super excited for his candy cane! Then we told them we were going to look at lights around Fillmore.  As we were going on some of the back streets Gideon was fussing so I fed him a little (shhhh …. yes I got him out of the car seat….) not for long though just to tide him over a little til we got home.  

We all had a fun time! We will for sure be doing this again.  Next year I’m sure they will always check their bed before falling asleep!
