I talked to Dr. Gold this morning.  He said that since Gideon’s seizures were beyond the normal seizure with fever, is why they medicated him with Keppra.  Gideon’s had 4 seizures in a short period of time.  If it was a classic fever seizure that lasted 1-5 mins and he only had the one they probably wouldn’t have given him medication. The neurologist probably wants to keep Gideon on medication for a period of time. One small comforting thing is that Keppra was just listed as being safe for newborns. 

I’m hoping the neurologist will give me a call today so I can find out if we can lower his dose a bit.  He’s waking a lot in the night (he was sleeping through the night).  I just know the medication is causing this fussiness, awakeness, and when he’s tired he’s REALLY tired (like limp sleepy tired…)

To top all this off Luke got sick with the stomach flu last night! Oh Lord, please keep the rest of us healthy! I can’t imagine getting that and trying to nurse and tend to Gideon at this time. Going on little sleep.
