Mom and I are trucking a long in our book. It truly helps me to “get it” to stick if I write notes and type out some of the BIG quotes that hit me. It’s so easy to go through a study and then once the book is closed to forget about all you’ve learned. I hate that. So, I really think it helps me to write things out and have it in a spot that I can easily find.
- All Christian parents are missionaries. With the Lords help He will allow us to see our kids as HE DOES. We should not suspend our love while they get their heart together. Have to remember we are not the one who can save our children. It is GOD who is at work in them.
- Eph 3:19-20 Great verse and John Mac. has great study notes on this verse
- Remember to ask the Lord to remind me of all he has done for me and that He’s working and not failing. Respond in gratitude.
- Kids know if you love them, and they know if you are REAL!
- Mom’s need to constantly be in prayer. All day long.
“Every Christian knows that we have been commanded to pray, but our prayer life is frequently cold and lifeless . It tends to be just another chore on our daily checklist. Most of us don’t have the same enthusiasm about it that we have if we are going for a visit to a beloved friends house whose generosity always dazzels us.”
“We tend to be lazy about it because we’re not thrilled about spending time with God. Very often we discover that our plan to pray once we get the kids going on their math is thwarted, again. “
- Sad but that is sometimes true. We need to be in prayer a lot more than we are. Take a deep drink of God’s Love. We can come to Him at any time. We don’t have to have everything lined up and perfect to go before Him.
“He does not suspend His love until we get our act back together. He already knows the worst about you (in yourself) and loves approves you nonetheless (in Christ). Although our sin does grieve Him, he doesn’t want you to keep your distance, sitting in a corner wearing a dunce cap until you learn your lessons.
“When we begin to grow in this confidence, a confidence that comes from grace, not from our own works, we’ll grow in our desire to pray too. He’s our loving Father.”
“The Lord is kind of use to make us desperate for Him, but when we fell desperate we frequently don’t pray. Instead we get out our books and try to figure our what we’re doing wrong rather than falling on our KNEES and pleading with our Father for grace. we double down our efforts to get the kids to do our bidding, and we feel as though we don’t have time for prayer”. Need to rely more on HIM than myself!
I need to give thanks more! Follow the example of Paul Loved the example she gave in the book “Lord, I thank you for ……. Please help me see where you’re working in him. Thank you that you’ve sustained his life. Thank you that he’s not pretending to be a believer. Thank you that he’s still in our home”
There are so many more great things in this chapter….
