I know several people who check here to see updates on Pop and I do my best to post when I can. Today I went down with Mom, Annie Mae and Gregory to see Pop. Annie Mae can’t go in but I’m nursing so needed her close. Gregory stayed in the car and texted when she needed Mama. Right before we left we had to call AAA because of a dead battery in the car. They came right out and fixed it.
Pop was having his best day Mom said today. He was talking better than normal. He’s still in a lot of pain. Hasn’t used his legs in 8 days and hardly moving his hands and arms. Dr says his conditioning of his body hasn’t happened (we already knew this… because everyone has been ON HIM to get up and move this past year) and so his muscles are just not doing well. He needs to be motivated to use them. He’s also not eating. He’s just not eating much at all!! Titus eats more than him! Pray he starts to eat and PROTEIN too! And that he tries super hard to move even though it hurts.
The Dr. says that the Gout is getting under control, however he seems to still be in lots of pain (so I’m not so sure its under control as they think). They say that can be muscles though too
(from not being used like they should be). He is still suffering from the pneumonia and on antibiotics for that. He’s on steroids for the Gout because he can’t take antibiotics because of his kidneys.
Mom has been by his side. She brushed his hair, shaved him and helps him move some too. She’s loving and kind and cares deeply for him! Pop is truly blessed to have her by his side! I’m blessed to call Pop my Dad! Love him so much!
He loves all the pictures and videos and Mom tries to share with him when he’s awake and alert enough to notice.
Luke sent Pop the squirrel. (see video below). They have a “thing” for the animals and Pop loves his squirrels. Luke bought this for pop and has been wanting to give it to him. Pop wanted to KEEP it with him. Its super sweet. The whole time I was there Lukakasquirel was there!
Pop did get tired today and when that happens he is really out of it. His talk doesn’t even make sense much. Talked of black widows and Levi and Abbey’s 2nd baby (which they aren’t even pregnant), a race he went to last night. I think the pain meds can do this too.
