Homeschooling. NEVER. GONNA. DO . THAT.

God had other plans!
(He wants us to TRY)

Last week I literally thought Adam would just be a “school drop out”.  I know…. I sound mean!
Learning this K-12 CAVA (California Virtual Academy) is tough.  Its just something NEW! We have to get into a groove and figure out how it will all mesh right with our days.  Adam seems very upbeat about it.  Adam still struggles with ADD and so to stay focussed on something can be a bit of a challenge.  He’s taking medication that helps his brain not bounce from one thing to the next and instead slow down so he can focus.  Trouble is, we gotta find the “right” dose that will be good.  Yesterday was a great day.  We upped his dose a bit and it really helped him dial in on his school work.
His first official day isn’t until Feb. 4th So all the work he is completing now is helping him get ahead (hopefully!) If he motivates himself he can finish a school work day pretty early and then have plenty of time for guitar, outside play, and hopefully woodworking at some point.

I get into habits of saying “I’M NEVER GONNA DO THAT” and God slaps me upside the head with a change of plans!

I always always said “I’m never getting married and having kids”.  HA!! Husband and six kids later, I’ve always said “I’m never going to homeschool”.

While I’m a TRUE “pro public” school Mom…. I am realizing more than ever that God makes each of our kids different.  Different in so many ways.

FCA was a great non-public school for Adam.  Small class size, great staff, and friends.
I was still having to do so much though.  Texting teachers, calling them, he forgot so much, wasn’t paying attention, grades suffering because of stuff that he did, but forgot to turn in.  It was beginning to be to stressful for the amount of money we were spending monthly. K12 kept coming to mind.
I kept saying “no way”
it kept coming to mind
One day I just stopped and said “God…… are you wanting me to TRY IT with Adam”??!?!  I figured…. we have to try something.
We pulled him from FCA
Ordered all the books & computer
Now he’s set
He started work right away even though its not his start date.  It was rough last week.  Still bumps, but I think we might be smoothing things out.  It will just take some time (I keep having to tell myself this!)

God, please help us!
