I totally didn’t plan on being back in the hospital when I left the house at 10:15 to take Gideon to the Dr. for a cough/fever. We love Dr. Gold and he was very concerned when he listened to Gideon, thinking possible pneumonia. I guess with Gideon’s history of seizures, if he gets sick it lowers the threshold for seizures. Dr. Gold is extra careful and thorough which I appreciate very much. He wanted him to go to ER to get x-rays, and blood lab work as well. He called up Dr. Flosi at Ventura County hospital and Dr. Flosi decided to admit Gideon. I really appreciated that as well, as I really didn’t want to go through the ER again. The xray came out OK and didn’t show anything real serious. Labs came back fine as well. Gideon has viral bronchiolitis. We had the choice to stay overnight so they could keep an eye on him. However, we really didn’t feel that was necessary since its just a “what if” and a “guessing game” as to if a seizure is going to happen or not. Basically we know to return to the hospital if he has a seizure lasting more than 5 minutes (though I can’t imagine watching that for 5 mins), high fever, if he can’t eat/drink, vomiting, or if he’s lethargic.
We plan to keep a watch on him and keep him comfortable with tylenol. Hopefully this little illness will run its course and not amount to anything serious, or cause a seizure!
Little Gideon has been through a lot in his little life! For the time we are going to keep his seizure medication doses the same. I’m so thankful for such wonderful Doctors in his life. Dr. Flosi is a great Doctor. and I love how he has taken so much time with us and explained things to us,and seems to really care! I also talked to Dr. Morrison on the phone and she is wonderful and is great to explain details to me as well. Dr. Gold will most likely be giving me a call in the morning to check up on Gideon too. God is so good to put such great pediatric Drs. in our life, for that I am grateful.
I didn’t get to ask Dr. Gold a few questions on my list since we rushed off to the hospital. I will most likely go in Friday or Monday for a check.
Tomorrow our little guy turns 6 months! No way! Those months just flew! So not right! He’s a little cutie. Once he gets well I’ll be sure to post a 6 month update with pictures!
Sitting here with Brian and realizing how blessed we are! Our boys are sweet gifts from God and little treasures in our life. I’m thankful to be home, with Gideon sleeping soundly in his little bassinet. Praying for a restful uneventful night.
