New Camera for Mommy!

We enjoyed the morning playing outside. Feb. and it sure feels like July! What is up with the weather?! I made cloud dough 8 cups of flour and 1 cup of baby oil. Makes for hours of fun outside. I had some flour that seems to be old so it was perfect to use today! Luke and Adam just LOVE it! Boys have been out of school all week. I hear its because of budget cuts.  Been nice having them all home during the day but much more busy! Adam and Luke get wild together playing swords and all sorts of boy stuff.  Nice to have a nice back yard to send them outside to!
Luke is still a bit on the grumpy side, but getting better.  Hopefully all the way well for our Disneyland 3 day trip coming up!
We were finally ready to get my new camera and when we called the camera shop they didn’t have it in.  We got a call yesterday and they only had one in and list of others to be called if they got one.  Brian decided we’d go to Woodland Hills to pick it up after work.  I got my new camera that I have been saving up for.  I’m super excited.   I got two books at Christmas on the Nikon D7000 and have done a TON of research and side by side comparisons.  Its not easy for me to make a big purchase! Ask Brian! Or my Mom.   I normally go back and fourth and back and fourth and even on the way over I discussed it again with Brian.  He sometimes thinks I’m nuts, but I like to really think it through and know that I’m making the right choice.  I still have a lot of learning to do and a lot of reading in the Manuel and books that I got.  I just don’t get a lot of TIME! I will learn it over time though.  Already I see a lot of WONDERFUL things about it.  A bonus, it has a video recording capabilities which is neat.  I think we are really going to enjoy it.  I loved my Nikon D40x for almost 6 years now.  As I’ve grown in my love for photography and needing my camera to do more for me, it was time for a change.
I now pretty much only ever shoot in Manuel mode and rarely ever use flash.  One great thing with this new camera is better in low light situations (like inside).  I love that I can crank up the ISO and not get as much noise (grain) as I did with the D40x. I’m anxious to get my settings figured out so I can be quicker at getting it where I need the settings to be. With kids, I gotta be QUICK.  They don’t like to wait around for me.  Today was so warm outside.  I decided to “play” Blogger distorts the pictures I’ve noticed.  Oh well.  I don’t have time to WEB SIZE every picture for the blog.  So, I will just keep blogging quickly using PICASA to upload pictures.  Just easier and at this season in life, I need quick and easy.  I still look at other photos and dream of getting better and better.  I’m so grateful for some friends that have helped me learn new things.  I want to keep learning and get better.  I do get frustrated at times but LOVE when the “light bulb” goes off and I finally “get it” with certain things.    It really is a fun hobby for me and I know my family constantly jokes about me always having a camera but I really enjoy doing it and its fun getting pictures of my kiddo’s.

One thing I have started doing instead of scrap booking is getting my pictures in books.  I’m using MY PUBLISHER to input pictures and create a book.  I love having our family pictures in a book.  The kids love pulling out all the scrapbooks and looking through them.  Makes for a fun family night to peak through all the pictures from the past.  By doing it in a book form its faster and easier for me.  Cheaper too.  I love that I don’t have to upload every single picture (and since I take a million, this is a good thing)! I have done 2009, almost done with 2010 all while working on 2012 (so I can stay current).  I would love to get caught up and just do one album a year.  This is my goal! Lately I will do a page here and there in the evening, during nap time or on the weekend when Brian is home.
