A simple dime

A friend from church shared a story of the impact of a tiny dime on one of her friends.  Her friend was in need and this dime appeared in an odd place, the next day she found a dime in the floor bed of her car.  These dimes seemed to have appeared during a time of anxiety, need, prayer or a particular situation in ones life.  After I heard the stories (which I didn’t share in great detail here), I found a single dime walking down to my Mom’s.  I was particularly concerned about Homeschooling and was dwelling on that at the time.  I found a PILE of dimes (just dimes) on Luke’s bed as I was cleaning, living room floor, kitchen drawer, behind a desk under spider webs (when we were looking for a special Bible),  side walk, on the road to a restaurant, the Dryer (worried about money issues), under a changing table as I prayed for our pastors wife, bedroom floor, car floor a couple times, truck console, passenger seat, 4 in the hall when I went to vacuum, and there have been several more.  The other night during all the uproar of the fires and packing our car and fretting about the fire, Brian was straightening the couch and there on the couch …. A DIME!

To me when a dime is put in my path, it causes me to STOP and dwell upon Him.  It causes me to STOP the worry for that moment and seek His face.

To me these dimes are little God winks.  Nothing mystical or magic or weird… Just simple little reminders and makes me smile.  It doesn’t just happen to me either or our friend from church! My Mom has found several single dimes. One particularly the other day when she was looking for something special and was missing my Dad.  She reached into a pocket of a suit that belonged to him (that she’d cleaned out already) and there was a SINGLE dime.  In her head she could hear Pop saying “Everything is gonna be alright”, something he said often.   Another gal from Bible study shared how her husband was going in for a surgery and there on the hospital floor…. a DIME!

I’m thankful for a God who cares about the little details and who will allow things, even as little as a DIME.  For one to appear as a wake up call, reminder to change the focus and seek Him, to remind us that everything really will be alright, strengthen Faith, and realize He is in control!

I love God! I love these fun little reminders!

By the way…. for fun I’m keeping a little JAR of dimes that I find!
