Gregory & Adam,
Sometimes I just want to cuddle you up and never let you go out and about, never let you watch TV, or do anything. But that would not bring glory to God. Life is not easy, it never will be. You have to learn to deal with life and trials, and early on is an ok place to start. We are here to serve and work for His Kingdom. And public school is a way you can learn to go to battle! We know many who choose to home school as they feel led to do, but our choice is to send you out into the public school system. There is no right or wrong in the matter, really. It has to be an individual decision. I just wanted to take a minute to write to you why we choose to send you out into this world so early on in life!
I grew up and went through the public school system. I remember being challenged. My faith in God was challenged over and over again. I got hit hard a few times. But with God’s strength I got through it all. I learned to lean on Him and draw strength from Him. In my 9th grade year I started the prayer group at school, and with that came lots of challenges, and battles with people who didn’t want us meeting! However, we were able to put on two full on assemblies for the entire school (two years in a row). We also met and prayed early in the morning two times a week, we had teachers come pray with us (off campus) as part of our Staff/Student prayer group. So much good and glory for the Lord came from that little group of believers on campus! We were small but mighty! Daddy went to a private school for his school years and didn’t know Jesus as his Lord and Savior until after he graduated from High School, so he doesn’t have a lot of experience with the “battle”.
Something I wanted to share with you kids, is that it is not easy to go to public school and be around people who are so “into this world”. We are aliens here and so we aren’t suppose to “fit in” with the crowd. I know that it is hard and a scary place at times and you need a break from it all. I hope and pray that you feel your home is a safe haven to come to after your battle on the field (school). A place where you will always feel safe, secure, and loved. Also a place where you can get “armed” for the next day!
Daddy and I pray all the time for your safety, your friends, pressure you will face, the battle that you will be in, and most of all that you will be bold and strong for Jesus! That God will use you in ways we can’t even imagine! That you will be His tool to taking His Word into the dark world around you.
We all have a job here on earth, and that is to ultimately bring Him glory! The glory He so deserves! And one way we can do that is by sending you out. You are are little arrows. Just because you are getting your schooling at a public school, doesn’t mean that we aren’t teaching you and bringing you up in His ways. We cherish our family times and love to teach you in many ways about our Lord. We get involved in your school, we know your teachers, your friends, what you are learning, and help you with homework. We are here for you when you have things to discuss with us, things that happened on the playground or in class. Daddy and I want you to know that you can come to us whenever. We are always open to listening to you with whatever trial comes your way.
God so desires for you to live a life well pleasing to Him. We trust the Lord with your lives, and pray that you will be used in MIGHTY ways for His Kingdom. After all YOU (your life) might be the only Bible your peers or teachers will read. You never know how He will use you in the lives of others. You are the salt and the light in our public schools. So, shine Bright for all to see!
Love,
Mommy
Enjoyed your letter to the boys. Public school is rough but no one said it would be different. I am proud of you for chosing to trust God and send them into the world but not to be of it. Who knows who they might help with their example of Christ. I will pray for them always.
Love,Mom H (Granma)
