I can think of no greater example of true unselfish love than that of my Mother. As we come upon Mother’s Day I’ve been thinking a lot about this. Mom would not be a Mother without Pop and so this time is extra difficult for us all. Mom is by his side through this all and its hard. She’s weary but still brave and strong.
Mom is the most amazing example of what I want to be. This has got to be one of the most difficult times in her entire life (right up there with loosing two of his children). Watching her husband of 46 years slip away so slowly (it seems). Its hard to watch and wonder if he’s in pain, if he’s comfortable, if he wants to say something, if he wants a sip of water, if he needs this or that. So many What if’s.
I watched tonight as Pop and Mom kissed (yes, he did kiss her too) and say “I love you’s” (yes he did manage to get that out to her). Their love is strong and real. Mom is so strong and her trust in God is real and she leans on Him for guidance. I love that about Mom. She’s faithful. Faithful to Pop and faithful to God. She reminded Pop tonight that the Lord goes before us. Mom is constantly remembering and reminding others of this!
Together, these hands have been through so much! They once were younger looking and now they are older looking. God uses these hands for His Glory. They lived a life to bring honor and glory to His name. I hope when Brian and my hands get older we can say the same thing! That our life was one lived for Christ, for His honor and Glory!
