Getting a call last night at Bible study from Brian that Girl was dead was one of the hardest things I’ve ever heard.  Driving home with Granma & I sobbing and wondering what and how we were gonna break the news to Luke Samuel.  Oh Luke my heart ached for you.  Got home and calmed down some and then took you in my arms and looked at you in the your eyes and told you and you burst into tears of sadness!  You couldn’t believe it! We hugged the whole evening.  You saw her as Daddy put her in a box for burial on this morning.

We knew this day would come.  We had hoped it would be in years down the road.  I KNOW the love you had for that little chicken.  You loved her so much! Since last Wed. you’ve taken to her a lot more.  Instead of getting her and playing with her 1-2 times a day, its been 3-4 times a day.  You saw how much joy she brought to Pop.  You saw how he lighted up when he saw you with her.  You made his day happy and you were looking forward to doing that again tomorrow! You and Granma had plans to bring Girl again! Oh my how my heart hurts for you Luke Samuel.  I hope God will give me the right words to help you.  My mind races and its tough at times to stop it.

I’m becoming more and more aware these days of how God uses everything to help and work things out for us in this life and I can’t help but think God is preparing your heart to loose your Pop someday.  I think this thought makes loosing Girl all the more painful for me to deal with.  I know Pop and I know he would be on the lookout for another chicken.  Even though to that last night you said “there will never be another Girl”.  

Girls memory will LIVE on!! As I plan to look through the MILLION photo’s and videos we’ve taken of her and Luke and will compile into a DVD and a book for him.  And one day we will do “A boy and His Girl” series of children’s books!!
