School this year

Can hardly believe this 2014/ 2015 school year is about to start.  Already trying to get the kids on an earlier bedtime and routine! Gregory Michael about to enter High School next Thursday.  It was neat getting to wander around with him at Fillmore High the other day. They had run out of lockers but we stopped by and Mrs Lemons had three of the brand new ones available! He got one right by his HONORS Biology class and its a tall locker.  Perfect for him! He is less nervous for school since he got a chance to look around.  It was kind of a strange feeling wandering the halls there.  A new building and everything is gated but all the old ones are there and to me….. if feels like I was just there! We walked by the class that I walked out on and I told him that story.  Walked down by the old woodshop that they no longer use for wood shop (totally sad).  It was fun.  And I can’t believe Gregory is starting High school!!! Ahhhhhhh! I remember those four years FLEW by so fast! Oh my goodness!

My sweet Adam James will be at the Fillmore Christian Academy again this year (wed).  He spent 3 months there last year.  It was the best move for Adam.  I never ever would have thought I would send one of my kids to a private school or even consider homeschooling them.  Lots of prayer went into this decision.  We did those three months as a trial to see if it was the RIGHT place for him.  I had a nice dinner with Mrs. Rutland who will be his 5th grade teacher this year.  She seems really good for him. I told Brian the other day that I really feel we are doing the right thing.  Its WAAAAAY too much money! Oh my goodness is it tough in that department.  However, emotionally for him its the right place.  I hope I’m gonna keep saying that all year! The work is a lot harder and therefore he has to put fourth more effort.  We got his room deep cleaned.  He’s a pack rat and had stuff stuffed in every corner you could think of.  We made him a nice desk area.  I’m hoping if we can keep him organized that will help a lot! He’s a lot less nervous about the first day since he knows all five of the kids in his grade.  He will be in the class with sixth graders and he knows some of them as well.

Luke Samuel will get to start his second year at Sonshine Preschool.  We went to Orientation the other day and he got to meet his teachers.  He’s especially excited that one of his is MR CHAD.  Mrs. Cabrall will be on Maternity leave until after October and Miss Angie will be in there as well.  Normally the second year of preschool we like to bump it up to three days a week.  However, with having to pay for Adam’s school we can only send Luke for two days.  He will go on Wed. and Friday’s.  Luke is super excited.  He got two new outfits and a hedgehog backpack that he can’t wait to bring to school!!

Gideon Josiah, oh where to begin!? He’s getting better and better all the time with things.  Just seems slow.  Normally I would NOT be sending him to school this year.  He just turns three on Sept. 1st. However with his situation and delays we are going through some assessments and setting up IEP for him next week and he will be starting preschool in September.  I get to take him in a couple weeks to “try it out” and see how it will be for him! He will be going in the mornings maybe four days a week.  From what we understand this will really benefit Gideon.  They have speech two days a week.  They also get interaction with the preschool next door.  I think there is only 5-6 kids in the class right now.  I’m so nervous to send him!! We do want to see more progress for him though.

Titus Glenn my sweet baby will be home schooled! Ha ha! He’s soooo smart and trying to copy what we say.  Adorable!! He’s taken a few steps here and there but still not walking. He looks a whole like like Adam but will have a personality like Luke! He’s a crack up and he knows it!!
