Gregory asked if we could do a
experiment that he read about in his James study. We said sure! Sounded like fun. We needed paper, a marker, tape, toothpicks, clear glass, pepper and liquid dish soap.
This is a picture of a believer who hears the Word and puts aside all filthiness, who keeps his tongue and anger in check. You can see “Gods Word” clearly.
Now he shook some pepper into the glass. The pepper is our filthiness and wickedness, such as the times we watch something we shouldn’t watch, or yell at our brother or sister and pick a fight. Are you still able to see “God’s Word” clearly? Then we took a toothpick and tried to pick up the pepper with it. This showed us what its like when we do THINGS our way and not HIS.
Now we put some liquid soap on the tip of the toothpick. Stuck it in the middle of the water and the pepper just went to the sides. Just like when we put aside all filthiness, we can clearly see GODS WORD!
It was a really neat little visual lesson!
Hey Gregory, that’s pretty cool! Really gives you a good idea, when you can actually SEE it happening and think about it all that way!
Fun science experiment, too!
