G.A.T.E. FOR Gregory!

We are so excited to share some news about Gregory! He was chosen along with some other students by his teacher to be recommended for GATE (Gifted and Talented Education Program). He went through a series of tests , and we wrote a letter, the teacher submitted some of his work, all to evaluate different indicators of ability.

We just got a letter today in the mail saying that Gregory was recommended to participate in the GATE program. Only a small percentage of the students in the schools participate in GATE programs. He was get to start in the 2009- 2010 school year (next year).

From what I understand GATE strives to provide challenging assignments, accelerated pacing, added levels of complexity, depth and variety of curriculum. Sounds interesting. We’ll see what next year brings!

Gregory, we love you! We are so proud of you and are excited to see what God will do in your life in the coming years!

I was in GATE! ( Gee, what happend??? LOL!!) Anyway, it was a lot of fun. He will LOVE it. I just remember learning about "different" things then they normally teach at that age & doing "different" sorts of activities… um, I think we did a series on Shakespeare, things like that. I looked forward to it each week. This will be a special time for him!

Congrats Gregory! We had GATE when I was in school, and I remember being jealous of the other kids when they got to leave the room for it. It sounded like they all loved it and I’m sure Gregory will too.
