Finally Pitching Again…

Gregory has been waiting two to three weeks to pitch in a game since the last time. It has been very hard for him watching two kids on the team pitch almost every game. Today we were told that he might pitch third, but only if we had a large lead. So the two same pitchers pitched again for maybe the sixth game in a row. But in the end, both of them ran out of pitches because they had walked seven batters and the coach had to bring in Gregory. Our team was losing at that point 7 to 0, but we didn’t care all that much because Gregory was finally going to pitch.

I’m sure he was really excited. He came in and faced the next two batters and struck them both out on only 9 pitches. Maybe someday the coach will see that Gregory really is good at pitching and let him have more chances. We are so proud of him. He did a great job!

He has really been working on his “wind up”

He is getting so good at pitching, the outfielders (number 8) don’t have anything to do. 🙂 Today was their first loss of the season. Up to that point, I think they had won 13 games in a row. The final score was 8-3. Gregory also walked and scored the second run for his team in the last inning.

Way to go Gregory! We hope the coach puts you in more! Sounds like you are very good at pitching!

Maybe the coach really likes Gregory at another position and does not like to give up having him there???

That’s what the coach says. He told us last week he just couldn’t take Gregory off of his position at second base. But there are kids that can play second base just as well. I’m pretty sure he just wants those two kids pitching most of the time. They have pitched about 6 games in a row.

Great job pitching Gregory! I sure wish we could come to a game to help cheer you on 🙂 Your wind up looks great!!

That is just crazy that at 8-9 years old they are already having kids play one position over and over, and denying other kids the chance to try it. These kids are still learning and developing their skills, Gregory should definitely get more equal pitching time!! Hopefully, if the coach doesn’t ever give him the pitching time, Gregory won’t give up and will get a different/better coach next time around!
