On my way home from the Dr. (which she had givin’ me a prescription for a sinus infection, which is the cause of some of my asthma and other problems I’ve been having lately!)

I got in a car accident. Coming home near Wells. Got in the fast lane so that the on-coming cars could get on and this black truck right next to me just kept coming in my lane. I slowed a bit and scooted over some but he kept moving over. I thought (split-second like), if he hits me this is gonna cause a HUGE accident. So I proceeded to break and pull off. When my car hit the gravel on the side it was uncontrollable. I just remember yelling “God please help me” repeatedly! I hit the metal guard thingy near the plants (whatever you call that). Left side of my head hit hard on the window. Once I stopped…. the guy driving the black truck looked behind him as he continued on the freeway. We made eye contact and he didn’t even stop!

I was crying, upset, shaking and trying to find my phone which fell out of my purse on impact. Found it. Called Brian. He was gonna try to get a ride out to get me. Then the police stopped behind me. He helped me calm down and breathe. All I could think about is the baby, and if he was OK! I could feel him move, so I was happy! My head hurt! (still does). Police wanted me to get off the highway and pull off on Briggs. So he slowed traffic and followed me to Briggs. Got off there. Brian and my Mom came and the we drove the car another area on Briggs and found out the suspect was caught! Turns out a private investigator was following me on the highway and saw the WHOLE thing! He took off after the guy in the truck and called the police! Once we got there I saw the guy and another lady. We didn’t go near them. The police came over and took my story. He kept referring to the driver as “she” “her” etc… After he walked back….. I told Brian it was THAT GUY THERE that was driving, not a lady. Turns out they were lying and telling the cops a different story. So I called the police back over to be sure and let them know it was a guy driver and I pointed at that younger guy that was standing there with the lady.

We got all their info. Our insurance gave us a name of someone in Oxnard to take the car to. The whole left side is banged up and dented. Seems to run a little bumpy too. I’m so bummed! But so thankful to be ok.

I called my OB and she said as long as I’m not bleeding, or in pain and I’m feeling the little guy that she didn’t need to see me. But she suggested me getting checked out because of my head. I have a huge goose egg on the side. I went to Urgent Care in Fillmore (not wanting to go back to Ventura to our family Dr.) and he checked me out and said things were fine. I got to see the little munchkin too, because they did an Ultra Sound (a quick one) and checked him out! All seems fine except for some neck/ head pain, bruise on my fingers, and still shaken up. Sure don’t want to drive anywhere today!

I’m thanking God tho that all is ok. It’s amazing how FAST that all happened. Being in that accident and seeing how fast it all took place! Scary! Hope asked me if I honked! Honestly… I had no time to really even do that, I just had to react in the best way I could! Thankfully I did what I did or I fear the accident would have been much worse!
