I am exausted, just trying to get Luke through a hair cut!

Mom came over to sit with Gideon while he napped.  I took Gregory and Adam to the water park in Ventura.  They were meeting up with Mike and Laura to go have fun with Brayden and Paytin.  Pop rode along with Luke and I to the barber shop.  This is Luke’s THIRD hair cut.  We prepped him all morning.  He was going to get 5 little gums if he did NO CRY. He was telling everyone, NO CRY this time.  I thought for sure he would sit there and do good.  No such luck!

He sat on my lap.  He cried.  Not only did he cry, he screamed, and pretty much threw a fit.  I had a hard time keeping him still enough to behave for the Barber.  Al was so kind though and patient.  Pop and I did everything we could to keep him still.  Boy did he have a fit.  Then after he wanted his gum.  I said “no way, you cried, you can’t have the gum”.  Luke is a SMART boy and he KNEW he had to sit there and not pitch a fit in order to get the reward.  He ended up crying on the way home, in between yelling “gum”.  He then tried to get out of his seat.  He took the straps off.  I told him he better get them back on and stop the crying.  He didn’t.  We had to pull off to spank him. 

Got home and put him down for a nap.  He was still upset about not getting gum.  I just found him asleep on the floor in his room.  Hope he gets a good nap and wakes in a better mood.

I think Luke Samuel is very strong willed and stubborn.  I was sad to not give him his treats that he was so excited to get, and sad to have to spank him.  I love this kid and he needs to know he’s not gonna be rewarded for acting the way he did.

I sure hope the next hair cut will be better! Otherwise, I’m thinking maybe he can just have long hair (lol)!
