I find it interesting to see all the different responses we get to our recent news! The news of expecting our FIFTH blessing. Some people act as if we are completely crazy! The reaction is mostly “wow, are you happy about this?” They ask it in a way as if we don’t have a clue what we are doing and that we might in some way be upset or disappointed. I guess having FIVE kids is really uncommon these days?! It is funny because we never got this reaction with child 1, 2, 3 and 4. We have hit FIVE kids and we are nuts, or so the majority of the world thinks! We laugh of course and don’t really let people’s shocked comments bother us. I have to admit though, I think at first reactions did bother me and I was even a bit nervous to tell certain people because I knew that would be the response. Honestly, it doesn’t matter what other people think of us. We are living for the Lord and letting Him lead and guide our life. He brings these little blessings to us and they are on loan and we will do the best to care and train them up in Him.
- Yes we are excited about our 5th child.
- Yes we know Gideon and this new baby will be close in age (however, no closer than Luke and Gideon are)
- Yes, we will be busy parents (we already are)
- Yes, I will be a tired Mom (I already am)
- Yes we can FIT all the kids in our house. We may just build bunk rooms and pack ’em in like sardines (ha ha… just kidding)
- No we don’t really care if it is a girl or boy. Really just want a HEALTHY, cute, non fussy, cuddly baby)
- Yes, there are days I feel like I’m going crazy (what Mom doesn’t have those days?)
- Yes we can handle it (hey, we have God on our side)
We decided to go with a midwife here in Fillmore. The day I found out I was pregnant I called Robyn (one of the midwifes that delivered Gideon). She is now taking over at the Ventura Birth center. We were set to go with her and deliver there in Ventura. However, being the busy Mom that I am I felt I needed to at least look into the one here in town. Brian, Mom and I met with Donna and really loved her. We love the fact that she is here in Fillmore. The big difference (which really isn’t that big) is that we will deliver at home. I had a lot of questions and we now feel really comfortable about it. We watched “The business of being born” on netlix and the part two of that. Very interesting stuff!! We are praying that this pregnancy goes smooth, healthy and normal!
I have my first appt. on Wed. I will be 12 weeks on Friday.
Maybe some are surprised because of Gideon's seizures and that might seem like a lot to take on to them; I don't know. I always knew you guys would like to have a big family! Everyone is just different on what they want and can handle so if someone struggled with one or two kids and heard you were having number 5 they would probably wonder how to handle all that! Hah! A friend of mine from high school had 5 girls and Brian and I gave good friends with 5 boys! So I don't think it's all that rare really. Hope your appt. goes great tomorrow!

Funny, I didn't even know we wanted a big family HA HA! We have always said… "whatever God wants"
No some people are actually pretty rude about it all and come off snippy and like we are doing something wrong.
