Hooky Day’s

There is more to life than school.  I think every kid needs a break just randomly at times during the school year.  Both Gregory and Adam asked if they could have a “hooky day” the other day.  Gregory was a tiny bit under the weather with a sore throat anyway.  I figured it would OK.  They promised to do some extra chores around to help me out too. It was a good day.  Took Gregory to use a gift card at the scooter store, went to Chick-fil-A at lunch, and the boys got to try out the skate park together.  Kinda nice with not many people there.
I had “hooky days” growing up and sometimes a person just needs that time to just hang out and not have lots of school work to do! I know many who would disagree but I just don’t put school WAY UP there like some do.  It is important and I want my kids to work hard, learn and do anything they do as if they are doing it unto the Lord.  But, I do think its fine to take a break every once in a while!

Yea I'm definitely a diagree-er (is that even a word?!) I think school is important, certainly not the most important thing in life, but I don't plan to let Jillian skip school if she asks. We may plan a trip here or there to give her a break, but we'll decide on that later. I just feel like there's too much wiggle room if she asks and one time and we let her stay home and the next time she asks we won't. Just not really sure a good reason for that aside from we're the parents and we said so….not a fan of because I said so as a reason 😉

We went to school as kids even if we didn't want to, unless we were sick. And if we were sick we stayed home and rested didn't get to go play or anything!

Hope Gregory starts to feel better soon!

Gregory wasn't really sick. I think the wind we've been getting just bothers us all! We just kinda play it by ear and just do 2 or 3 a year. We can tell if its a good time for them or not.
