It’s been about three years of waiting, but I finally found a bargain for some Lakers’ tickets for Gregory and I. I’m always the person who can’t go to the game unless I’m sitting really close, so it took some time to find the right deal.
So Gregory and I went to see the Lakers vs. Hornets tonight. It was especially neat since the Lakers had been playing good the previous couple games, and all the players were healthy. It’s always a disappointment if you show up to a game and one of your favorite players isn’t playing.
Our seats were in section 112 in the 9th row. Here is a shot during the game from where we were sitting (zoomed in just a bit)
It’s a little bit blurry because I was taking it with a cell phone.
The Lakers ended up winning the game 111-106. They were ahead 98-80 with a few minutes left in the game, and the Hornets went on a 16-2 run and almost tied the game at one point when it was Lakers 102-101. People who left early missed an exciting end to the game. It was the Lakers third win in a row and we were glad to be there.
Here is a shot of Gregory and I before the game. During warm-ups, Bill MacDonald came down to chat with us for a couple minutes. He is the current play-by-play announcer for the Lakers along with Stu Lantz. We didn’t get to meet anyone else, but it was still a fun time.
Here is a shot of Gregory with the statue of Magic Johnson outside the Staples Center. We got there a little early and had to wait outside for about 30 minutes. While we were waiting, we met a guy from Alabama who was in town on business and bought a ticket for himself. He was probably about my age and told us that he was a big Lakers fan and this was the first NBA game he had ever been to.
This was Gregory’s first game too. Hopefully it won’t be his last, but we’ll see.
How fun!!! 🙂 Glad they won too! I've only ever been to one Laker game but it was loads of fun!
